Which human tissue is similar to the function of dermal tissue in plants?

Plants dermal tissue is their skin. That's why "derma" sounds familiar. "Derma"tologist, etc. Humans "dermal tissue" is known as our epidermis. It serves primarily the same function: to protect your body, or, in the plants case, the body of the plant.
