In this lab, biology students were directed to use indicators as chemical detection tools, to analyze a variety of foods for the presence of carbohydrates, lipids or proteins. They preformed a specific test for carbohydrates, a Benedict test. The results for the presence of glucose can be seen here. Students wanted to use the same test for a variety of other carbohydrates. The test would work for all BUT ONE of the carbohydrates listed here.
