I agree because before people are so innocent and any information from an authority will make them believe directly. However, the generation today, people are so hard to please and are not swayed directly by bits of information. People need something in order to believe and they want really a clear and a visual evidence in order to listen and be attentive. Also, people now are more aware and educated as compared to before.

I disagree with the prompt statement "Welles was able to pull off his hoax in 1938, but nobody could do the same today"  While I agree that individuals in 1938 were more susceptible to being fooled, I also believe that today's generation is more difficult to persuade and is not easily swayed by facts. People are also more vigilant and knowledgeable than they used to be. However, many individuals continue to believe many things that occur on the internet. For instance, the entire internet was made to believe that someone was flying a jetpack through LAX airport. But it was VFX in actuality. This is why I don't agree with the prompt. And I say that someone could do the same today.
