The Roman Empire built its road system to reinforce its power-holding since it favored the Roman presence in more places. This system made it possible for Romans to transfer military units from one place to the other very quickly while also being useful to spread the gospel more easily since now there were new available places which had been inaccessible due to lack of roads, impassable roads, or climatic conditions.
