Hepatosplenomegaly refers to the swelling of liver and spleen beyond the normal size. It normally occurs due to enzyme disfunctions and lysosomal storage diseases. The other reasons may include cirrhosis, blood cell infections, viral hepatitis and rheumotoid arthritis. It can also occur as of leukemia and is life- threatening. Treatments may require liver transplants and cancer treatments in severe cases.
