How do you feel about children using social media?
- Children under the age of 13 are too young and immature to understand what’s right or wrong for them, and what can affect them in a negative way.
- Even if their social media accounts are being supervised by a guardian, it is difficult for the guardian to keep track of their social media all the time. We never know at which moment what kind of social media post is going to appear on their timelines.
- Also, letting the children use social media at such a young age may cause a social media addiction in them. It is better if small kids aren’t given exposure to social media at such an early age.
- It is also important that we teach children under 18 years of age about online bullying and social media safety. Children should be taught why and how they can be a target of online bullying, and how it can affect them in a negative way.
- It is also important to instill the right values in them, and make sure that they don’t become bullies in future.
Thus, children should be taught about the potential good and bad stuff that they might encounter on social media, willingly or unwillingly.
