Answer: It reduces the interference from outside noise.

Explanation:

The twist in the twisted cables helps to reduce the noise interference  from the outside of the twisted cable or from other cables. This is possible as because of the magnetic field generated due to the current flowing forward and backward cancels each other and thereby the sound or the interference produced by one wire is reduce by the other and vice versa.
