This Alexandria was made with the purpose to be a center of knowledge, so the biggest library in the world was made there, with literature from the known world getting pilled u, including the Greek one. As every scientists and scholar was attracted to this city, the Greek culture found its way to them through the preserved literature, thus it gained even bigger reputation.
