Both Mitosis and Meiosis are way of an atom slipting. Meiosis is a cell division that results in 4 daughter cells each with halo of the parents chromosomes. Mitosis is a cell division that results in2 daughter cells with the same amount of chromosomes in each one.

Mitosis is defined as the phase of the cell cycle where the nucleus of a cell is divided into two nuclei with an equal amount of genetic material in both the daughter nuclei.

What is meiosis?

Meiosis is the process in which a single cell divides twice to form four haploid daughter cells.

1. At  the beginning of the cell cycle mitosis produces two diploid (2n) somatic cells that are genetically identical to each other and the original parent cell, whereas meiosis have 1N at the first stage.

2. Mitosis: At the end mitosis only produces 2N diploid cells.

Meiosis : Meiosis produces four haploid (n) gametes that are genetically unique from each other and the original parent (germ) cell.

3. Mitosis: Daughter cells are diploid.

Meiosis: Haploid (n).

4. Mitosis: yes daughter cells are identical to parent.

Meiosis: there may be little variation in daughter cells. Homologous chromosomes exchange bits of DNA to create genetically unique, hybrid chromosomes destined for each daughter cell.

5. Mitosis: Daughter cells are identical to each other.

Meiosis: there may be little variation in daughter cells.

6. Mitosis: Human somatic cells have 46 chromosomes consisting of two sets of 22 homologous chromosomes.

Meiosis: A pair of nonhomologous seˣ chromosomes. This is the 2n, or diploid state.

7. Mitosis: Once mitosis is complete, the cell has two groups of 46 chromosomes.

Meiosis: chromosome no reduced to half (1N).

8. Mitosis: Mitosis involves one cell division.

Meiosis:  involves two cell divisions.

9. Mitosis: Somatic cells

Meiosis: Seˣ cells

10. Mitosis:  The major purpose of mitosis is for growth and to replace worn out cells.

Meiosis: This process is required to produce egg and sperm cells for seˣual reproduction.
