The onion cell (and all plants for that matter) should have an extra layer around the cell known as the "Cell Wall" it offers more protection and helps support the plant. Human cells (and animal cells) do not have these cell walls they simply have a cell membrane while plants have both. also Plant cells are Square or rectangular while animal and human cells are round or ovalish in shape.
