I don't know if the capital 'X' was a different variable, so I did both calculations.

2(x - 3) + 9 = 3(x + 1) + X

= 2x - 6 + 9 = 3x + 3 + X

= 2x + 3 = X + 3x + 3

= -x = X

= x = -X

2(x - 3) + 9 = 3(x + 1) + x

= 2x - 6 + 9 = 3x + 3 + x

= 2x + 3 = 4x + 3

= -2x = 0

= x = 0
