Following the European invasion of Africa, some communities tended to remain the way they were but they had to respond to the European imperialism by resisting. African resistance was depicted in the following ways.

  1. Most African communities had distinct and unique practices in culture and religion. a conflicting phenomenon occurred when the Europeans tried to hinder the African practices. they wanted cultural, religious and cultural autonomy thus resisting the Europeans bid to change their setup.
  2. some Africans formed political parties that were meant to unite them to fight their common enemy who were the European imperialism. Political resistance was seen as the Africans  trying to reject and oppose the European ideologies.
  3. Africans formed alliances to fight against the imperial activities of the Europeans which by that time were seen to be aggressive and harsh. Violent resistance were made by the military alliances and at some point, imperialism had to come to a close  in the territories that they were initiated.
