In order to satisfy the demand for wood on the market, the forests have been cut down without taking in consideration what kind of consequences it may have. The wood is used for all sorts of things, be it as firewood, industrial wood, instruments, furniture etc. The biggest problem is that the government doesn't' really seem to care about the deforestation as long as profit is coming in, so there has only been symbolic reforestation that accounts for less than 15% of the rate of deforestation. If the situation continues to develop like this, Mongolia will destroy its forests totally in the near future.
