The reason for the growth of the suburbs following World War || is because people needed places to live. The veterans and there families for example would need a place to live, or if people's houses got destroyed the would need to make/build more.
The suburban population in North America suffered a significant increase during the years after the Second World War in 1945. This occurred due to the fact that war veterans aimed to start a settled life in which they could raise a family. This tendency has caused that major urban areas in the United States, such as the cities of Miami and San Francisco are actually much smaller than the suburban areas that surround them.
