A preposition is a word that indicates the relation of a noun or pronoun to some other word in the sentence. A preposition always introduces a phrase, called a prepositional phrase, which consists of the preposition, a final noun or pronoun, and any modifiers. The noun or pronoun that ends the phrase is the object of the preposition.
