In the mid-eleventh century, as recorded in history, Islam was introduced to Ghana by Muslim Almoravids, a group of zealous Muslims, originating in southern Mauritania. Almoravids Berber Muslim dynasty ruled Morocco and Muslim Spain in the 11th and 12th century.
