The color of light is determined by the intensity of the different wavelengths that make up that light. People perceive color when electromagnetic radiation with a wavelength between 750 and 400 nanometers reaches the eye. The whole of the intensities of all those wavelengths is the spectrum. The color of the surface of an object is determined by the spectral part of the light that is reflected by that surface, and the other colors are absorbed.
