If Macbeth or Lady Macbeth did not have some sort of remorse or shame for what they did then they would have lived life like nothing happened. Lady Macbeth told her husband to murder King Duncan in order to take his throne away because some witches prophesied it would happen like so. However, Macbeth was the kings most trusted friend and he had a high social status for a warrior. Macbeth murdered Duncan and felt deep remorse for what he did. But, when he became king he started to fear that someone else would take the throne from him and started to kill close friends in order to keep his kingship. Macbeth from guilt and remorse became paranoid and fearful. Seeing Banquo’s ghost caused Macbeth an intense fear that someone would take vengeance for his death and was reminded that just like he stole the throne from Duncan someone else could steal the throne from him. As for Lady Macbeth she felt no remorse for Duncan’s death. It was only after she started having nightmares that she started agonizing for the death of Duncan because she realized that the actions she had done were wrong. Lady Macbeth in the end took her life away because the guilt carried upon her was too great.
