Andrew Jackson was known to be a “man of the people” and used his executive position to shut down the Second National Bank.
Jackson believed that due to being ran by a board of many with ties to manufacturing and industry business, the Bank was both unconstitutional and biased. Andrew Jackson believed that the Second Bank had too much political and economic power and pushed toward defending northern and urban areas, and completely ignored the needs of the Western United States. He sought to remove all federal funds and bring down the bank and was successful.
