  • A deletion mutation occurs when part of a DNA molecule is not copied during DNA replication. Deletion of a nucleotide in a DNA sequence that causes a frame shift mutation which usually produces a malfunctioning protein.
  • Substitution Mutation occurs when one nucleotide base is replaced by another. There are three types of substitution mutation namely; Missense, Nonsense, and Silent mutations.
