Judaism: the monotheistic religion of the Jews, having its ethical, ceremonial, and legal foundation in the precepts of the Old Testament and in the teachings and commentaries of the rabbis as found chiefly in the Talmud. Also the belief in and conformity to this religion, its practices, and ceremonies. This religion considered as forming the basis of the cultural and social identity of the Jews:

Buddhism: a religion, originated in India by Buddha (Gautama) and later spreading to China, Burma, Japan, Tibet, and parts of southeast Asia, holding that life is full of suffering caused by desire and that the way to end this suffering is through enlightenment that enables one to halt the endless sequence of births and deaths to which one is otherwise subject.

Islam: 1 the religious faith of Muslims, based on the words and religious system founded by the prophet Muhammad and taught by the Koran, the basic principle of which is absolute submission to a unique and personal god, Allah. The whole body of Muslim believers, their civilization, and the countries in which theirs is the dominant religion.

Christianity: the state of being a Christian. Being a Christian is:

1 . of, relating to, or derived from Jesus Christ or His teachings: a Christian faith.

2. of, pertaining to, believing in, or belonging to the religion based on the teachings of Jesus Christ: Spain is a Christian country.

3. of or relating to Christians: many Christian deaths in the Crusades.

4. exhibiting a spirit proper to a follower of Jesus Christ; Christlike: She displayed true Christian charity.

5. decent; respectable: They gave him a good Christian burial.

6. human; not brutal; humane: Such behavior isn't Christian.

Judaism: Founded by the Hebrews

Buddhism: Founded by a Hindu Prince

Islam: Founded by Muhammad

Christianity: Founded by followers of Jesus of Nazareth
