During the Revolutionary War, the United States was technically still under the rule of Great Britain, and that's why they got into a war with them so they could become independent from them. If they were trying to made a trade route to china during the revolutionary war, there would be so man problems and complications.
If they started the trade route while they were under the Great Britain rule, the trade route wouldn't be considered as a trade route from China to the U.S, it would be China to Great Britain, since they were technically still Britain's people. Also, if they were to made the trade route, the trade agreements that they would have to make would be decided upon Great Britain's orders. They had no independence from Great Britain until after they won the Revolutionary War. After they won the Revolutionary war, then they made the trade route because they were now known was the United States, and they get to do what they want without having the British government stopping them. This made it less complicated when trading with China, since they were their own country now.
