The Moral Majority was a political organization associated with major Christian Factions and the Republican Party. It was founded in 1979 by Baptist Minister Jerry Falwell. It became an important force in bringing the more conservative and Christian parts of the population to the Republican Party.
Current movements, such as progressivism, have shifted the orientation of the idea that people must do good deeds as an act that pleases God, but rather that people should engage on good actions because it is for the improvement of society as a whole. There would have to be a massive fallout with this concept of progressivism, as a failed philosophy, in order to lay the path for a resurgence in the Moral Majority movement.
