Chinese New Year is one of the main holidays celebrated by Chinese people around the world. On this holiday, people typically give red envelopes containing money inside as gifts. Often, lanterns and door gods (paintings) are hung up to decorate.

Chinese New Year is celebrated by people of Chinese, Southeast Asian, and East Asian descent worldwide. Red packets filled with “lucky money” are given out to friends and family to bring luck and happiness to the new year. Many foods, for example, mooncakes, are eaten during this time to celebrate.
