Prophase chromosomes become visible or in the other words they condense. During interphase the DNA strands are uncoiled (uncontested) in the nucleus. This chromosome can be called chromatin
During interphase the genetic material is called euchromatin.
Chromatin is nothing but the chromosomes that remains loose with in the cell to allow transcription to take place during the cell division. However in most of the cell division stage the chromosome remains condensed making chromosomes clearly visible. However during interphase the DNA of cell is loosely distributed. However during the interphase there are several sections of chromatin known as heterochromatin where the genetic material is condensed and transcription do not take place.
