Give the equations of two different lines that are perpendicular to the line 3x+4y=7.

Show your work.

Respuesta :

In order to Sherman a line that is either parallel or perpendicular to another line, you first have to put the equation into slope intercept form. This means you have to solve for y.

3x+4y = 7
4y = -3x + 7
y = (-3/4)x + (7/4)
The slope of the line is -3/4. Online which is perpendicular would have a slope of 4/3, The negative reciprocal.

Now that you know the slope, you can write many different equations that would be perpendicular to the original.

y = (3/4)x + any y-intercept....Pick a number, any number... 7. ... y=(3/4)x+7
... -2 ...y = (3/4)x - 2. Literally you can pick any number.
