The most common and polite way to leave the table is to use the expression, "may i be excused?" make sure to give them a valid reason for leaving, such as " aliens have just landed in the backyard" and making a getaway for the tv or "SOMEONES BREAKING IN" and dumping whatever you dont want to eat on your distracted sibling or parents plate .
