Government supported programs to help the needy have continued since Roosevelt's time. Examples would be the government programs that help local economies and programs that provide health care for children. These programs are expensive and cost the citizens money in the form of taxes. Do you think that the government should still continue to help people in need or should people have to take care of themselves? Explain your answer.

I think the government should still help people in need even if it costs tax dollars because if you are a citizen of the US you most likely have to pay them yourself. If you can help someone get back on their feet and become financially independent, then you've done your job. Most of the time this requires possible welfare, or food stamps while that person/people look for employment.
