Panic disorder can be so disabling in a persons life due to the amount of added stress it causes. Having panic disorder is like constantly running and/or hiding from an invisible monster. You don't have a fear of something material, more a fear of what your brain makes up. This can be disabling because of the effects it will have on relationships and jobs. In a relationship, you might have reoccurring fears that the person is cheating, or that you may never be good enough for them. This can cause a break in the relationship, if the other person doesn't know how to handle this behavior. Panic disorder can hurt jobs too because of constant fear of not doing enough. Not only that but it can show through in even doing simple things, like printing documents. Your brain takes over and makes you think of everything you could've possibly done wrong, and sooner than later, you start to believe it.
Panic attack symptoms can include shortness of breath or hyperventilation, heart palpitations or racing heart, trembling or shaking, nausea or upset stomach, and even the fear of dying, losing control, or going crazy. A panic attack is an intense wave of fear characterized by its unexpectedness and debilitating, immobilizing intensity. Panic attacks often strike out of the blue, without any warning, and sometimes with no clear trigger. They may even occur when you’re relaxed or asleep.
