After planning on what to do to try missing school, Tom found himself groaning hardly, but still with no success on waking Sid up. So Tom call him out and "shook him" and "went on groaning". Sid started getting anxious watching him, trying to make Tom stop groaning, what just made Tom improve his acting, saying between groans: "I forgive you everything, Sid. Everything you've ever done to me. When I'm gone--". That was enough to Sid answer: "Oh, Tom, you ain't dying, are you? Don't, Tom--oh, don't. Maybe--", then Sid fled to bring Aunt Polly to help.
With that letter D (Tom groans and says, “ when I’m gone…”, so Sid will call for Aunt Polly’s helps) is correct in the first question and letter A is correct in the second question (so it becomes anxious and asks if Tom is dying).
Answer:
D) Tom groans and says, “ when I’m gone…”, so Sid will call for Aunt Polly’s helps
A) so Sid becomes anxious and asks if Tom is dying
Explanation:
Mark Twain's "The Adventures of Tom Sawyer" tells the story of a young boy named Tom Sawyer growing up in the Mississippi. It narrates the adventures of Tom, his childhood, skipping schools to enjoy elsewhere and various other such experiences.
In chapter 6, Tom was reluctant to go to school for he hate Mondays. He was frantically trying to miss school with whatever excuse he could come up with. First trying to feign sickness, but turned unsuccessful. He then thought of using his sore toe as an excuse of dying and began to groan to get Sid's attention. This was a success as Sid became anxious and ran down to call Aunt Polly. But even this trickery was found out by Aunt Polly.
