The Sibley Commission took place in Georgia in 1960. The primary aim of this commission was to dicover how Georgians felt about the issue of integration.

Governor Ernest Vandiver Jr. was forced to decide whether Georgia will apply the federal order of desegregation or will close their public schools. For this reason, he commanded to form the General Assembly Committee on Schools, also known as Sibley Commision. The committee was in charge or gathering the opinions and sentiments of state resident's about desegregation, in order to take a decision.
