The two main factors that affect density of ocean water are the temperature of the water and the salinity of the water.

The density of any substance is defined as the measure of its material mass. The density can be of any substance may it be solid, liquid or gas. it is derived by dividing the material mass by its volume.

The two properties that affects the density of the ocean water are:

1. The temperature: there is inverse relation between the temperature and water density. Higher the temperature lower will be the density of the ocean water.

2. The Salinity: the salinity is the percentage of salt in the water. There is direct relation between salinity and density of water. More the cold and salty water higher will be the density of the ocean water.
