Why does Lenina hate the color khaki? Why is she glad she is not a Gamma

Respuesta :

Lenina hates the color khaki because it belongs to the Delta, one of the lower caste, made up of individuals of low intelligence who work in factories or as drivers of vehicles. As she is of a superior caste, she considers everything assimilable to the lower castes as ugly or unimportant.

In line with this thought, Lenina expresses her joy at not belonging to the Gamma, who, again, was an inferior caste to her own, the Beta.

Lenina hates the color khaki because it is the color associated with the Gammas, who are the lower castes, and she considers them to be worthy of only doing menial jobs. She belongs to the class beta, which is certainly associated with its privileges, that lets her fly to every place she wants.

Further explanation:

There is obviously a kind of a strong social division that is observed within the text. Lenina clearly looks upon the Gamma and believes that they are incapable of establishing their worth, they are only worthy of laboring in factories, as they do not have the mental capabilities for leading. This is a setting from the pages of the dystopian novel Brave New World. Citizens are engineered through artificial means of creation, and they are sorted into their respective classes, on the basis of their intelligence and labor. The least intelligent citizens are put in charge of performing the most unimaginative and laborious tasks.

In this advanced imagined world, the privileges accorded to members of each caste are dependant on their intellectual capabilities. Members of lower castes do not have the privilege of going everywhere in the realm or to fly. A novel is an interesting approach to the dangerous effects of overutilizing technology, and tampering with the methods of reproduction, that is, again, a natural process. Brave New World also focuses on the anomalies and hypocrisy of the society of the World Society, where despite modernized use of technology, inequalities between citizens still have existed. The citizens also face difficulty in accepting the truth and do everything they can to shut themselves out of it.
