Pretty Please explain why the correct answer for the question: "A mutation in yeast makes it unable to convert pyruvate to ethanol. how will this mutation affect these yeast cells?" is "A) the mutant yeast will be unable to grow anaerobically" and not the others?

A) the mutant yeast will be unable to grow anaerobically.

B) the mutant yeast will grow anaerobically only when given glucose.

C) the mutant yeast will be unable to metabolize glucose.

D) the mutant yeast will die because they cannot regenerate nad+ from nad.

I would really appreciate it if someone helped me with this problem. I need to do corrections for this problem but I don't understand it.

Respuesta :

yeast cells convert pyruvate into carbondioxide and ethanol by the process called fermentaton. If a mutation takes place in yeast cells, that makes the yeast unable to convert pyruvate to ethanol. This makes the mutant yeast unable to grow anaerobically due to its constant biological surge to undergo the process of anaerobical respiration.
