Weathering is the process that changes solid rock into sediments. With weathering, rock is disintegrated into smaller pieces. Once these sediments are separated from the rocks, erosion is the process that moves the sediments away from it's original position. The four forces of erosion are water, wind, glaciers, and gravity. Water is responsible for most erosion. Water can move most sizes of sediments, depending on the strength of the force.

Rocks that resist weathering remain at the surface and form ridges or hills. Devil’s Tower in Wyoming is an igneous rock from beneath a volcano. As the surrounding less resistant rocks were worn away, the resistant center of the volcano remained behind.

2) Freeze thaw weathering occurs when water flowing along the bottom of the glacier freezes and opens up cracks. Plucking is when peices of rock come apart and are pulled along with the glacier. When loose pieces scrape along these sides and bottom, they more rock with them. This is abrasion. Depostion occurs when a glacier flows down a mountain leaving a few things behind. Deposition occuring at the end of a glacier a terminal moraine. An outwash pain occurs in front of this.
3) An outwash plain is a plain that occurs at the thermius of a glacier. As a glacier melts it carries down debris. This plain is where it is deposited. Sands and gravel sediments are deposited here.
