The point-slope form of line:

[tex]y-y_1=m(x-x_1)\\\\m=\dfrac{y_2-y_1}{x_2-x_1}[/tex]

We have the points (-5, -6) and (2, 8). Substitute:

[tex]m=\dfrac{8-(-6)}{2-(-5)}=\dfrac{8+6}{2+5}=\dfrac{14}{7}=2\\\\y-(-6)=2(x-(-5))\\\\\boxed{y+6=2(x+5)}[/tex]
