Sinners in the Hands of an angry God is a sermon that is meant to tell those who listen of the power of God and warn people to repent their sins and beg for mercy in the hands of an all-powerful God which are the only thing keeping you from falling into the endless pit of Hell.  Hope this helps, i read this a few months ago.

The major themes that are discussed and found within Jonathan Edwards' sermon titled "Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God," were the fact that God had the ultimate power over one's salvation, that an individual should trust in the power of their Savior Jesus Christ, and that that same individual should prove their faith through living a godly life. Edwards presented many ideas and themes that were meant to frighten and shock the listeners, however, some Puritans may feel comforted in that he had made it clear that God would be forgiving towards those who genuinely wanted to improve and stray away from all types of sin.
