The Mid-Atlantic Ridge is a tectonic plate or a middle ocean ridge that is situated along the bottom of the Atlantic.
This plate boundary divides the plates of North America and Eurasia in the Northern Atlantic and the plates of South America and Africa in the Southern Atlantic Ocean.
EXPLANATION:
This Mid-Atlantic ridge spreads at an average rate of about 2 and a half cm every year.
The ridge was discovered back in 1872 by a group of the expedition by the British aboard HMS Challenger.
