The Supreme Court is part of the judicial branch, not the legislative branch. The Supreme Court is the highest court in the land, though its decisions can still be overturned by the legislative branch (by passing a constitutional amendment). In this way, no one branch is superior to any other. They all participate in a complex web of checks and balances.
