This is what I got for an answer, bare with me.
Okay, so a string in math is most likely meant as a NUMBER STRING. So, if you searched up or if you already know that terminology... It's almost like an equation. So for example: 12x8=, 12x2=, and so on. But that is a number string. Now to the other part. "The Pitch" from what I see, there isn't any numbers, choices or pictures.. So, I'm going off of what makes since. A pitch in math is another way of saying the SLOPE. Then, put two and two together.
It seems as if that the Number string has the numbers that the Slope would've needed. So, I would describe their relationship as: Helping each other? The number string supplies the numbers for the slopes, so they both need each other to get along with their ways.
