The volcanic eruption liberates large amount of gases into the atmosphere. It releases water vapor, sulphur dioxide, carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, hydrogen fluoride and hydrogen chloride into the atmosphere. The released sulphur dioxide along with water vapor in the atmosphere produces sulphuric acid which condenses in the form of acid rain. The acid rain destroys the vegetation, building materials and causes delitorious effects to the aquatic body. It pollute the quality of water body hence results in mortality of aquatic animals. When there is a excess amount of sulphuric acid in the water body it interferes with the ability of aquatic animals to take up nutrients, oxygen and salt from water.
