1- Kansas – Nebraska Act reveals the inability of the US government to solve the problem of slavery because it mandates popular sovereignty over a decision, exposing that it wans’t possible for politics to arrive at a civilized agreement. Kansas – Nebraska Act showed the ineptitude of Mossouri Compromise to solve the situation in political terms.

2- Republican Party gets from the beginning to unify criteria between the norhern states against slavers. Republican Party offered a refreshing speech that opposed his rivals with a unified  vision. However, the ghost of civil war was unleashed due to the secession of the Union of several Southern states that precedes Lincoln’s rise as president.

3- The growth of cities and the trend towards industrialization in the North attracted European immigrants as the main strength of labor. A better access to education and a better educated and multicultural society laid the foundations for the North to develop an anti-slavery position that sought as an objective to return the slaves to their born Africa. The position of the South, on the other hand, regarding slavery, was based on the importance they had to sustain an extensive agricultural economy. The more restricted access of the population to public education increased the establishment of entrenched customs and the difficulties to uproot them.
