Civil Liberties are freedoms and basic rights, that protect individuals from government abuse and tyranny. In the United States civil liberties are protected by being stated in the Bill of Rights (the first 10 amendments of the United States Constitution).
On the other hand, Civil Rights prevent discrimination against an individual because of their gender, race, religion, sexual orientation or age. Civil rights ensure equal treatment to all individuals.
