One circumstance in which Emerson accepts consistency is in the use of language.  Emerson uses a consistent language in his essays, he conforms to  the consistency of grammar, and linguistic codes, he accepts the norms of the written language to communicate his ideas to his readers.  This conformity is necessary in order to communicate his ideas in a logic and accurate way.  He would probably advocate the benefits of consistency in this area.
