Respuesta :

Narcissa Whitman was an American missionary that joined to her husband Dr. Marcus Whitman, wanted to fulfill the mission to Christianize and civilize indigene tribes, so they crossed the Rocky Mountains to do it, living together hard experiences which she described in letters to her family. Not only she was the first woman to cross those Mountains but also she was “the second mother” of Sager Orphans during this time. Although the Whitman had troubles with many tribes that didn’t accept their mission nor Dr. Whitman’s medicine, they achieved converted some tribes and carried more missioners to Oregon. This settlement gave a big cultural contribution to tribes and marked an important point in Oregon’s history.
