When plates push forward it creates a ridge in the center. This ridge then creates a force that pushes older colder plates back down. Which allows hotter plates to be pushed back up creating the ridge again. This continues on and on which is why it’s seen as earths “conveyor belt”

A plate movement is similar to a conveyor belt since they both move the plates of the Earth.

It should be noted that at subduction zones, where a plate bends beneath another, then the sinking plate acts just like the conveyor belt.

When the convection currents flow in the mantle, the Earth's crust is moved. The conveyor belt moves the plates of the Earth just like the plate movement.
