The Louisiana Purchase (1803), which enlarged the American territory providing westward expansion and trade, had a great impact on the multi ethnic and multi racial make-up of the US. People from different parts of the world started to occupy Louisiana territories, and this marked the beginning of a multi-cultural meeting. Many of the Louisiana inhabitants came from the Caribbean, Mediterranean and African regions, but also French, Spanish, English and German descendants. These people who brought together their beliefs and traditions, practised different religions and spoke diverse languages. As a result, the Louisiana became a richly multi-cultural frontier where different cultures encountered as well as diversity flourished.
