In what direction would an ancient mesopotamian travel to get to adab from isin

Mesopotamia or the land between the rivers. In ancient times, the geographic area located between the Tigris and Euphrates Rivers. Northern side was hilly and rainy and the Southern side was plains and hot with little rain. Sumerians were the first people to live in the South. To get from Isin to Adab the Ancient Mesopotamians would have to go West.
