Erta Ale is a volcano in Ethopia in the Afar Region, and it is located on a tripple juction: a bondary of three tectonic plates: two parts of the the African plate (the Somalian and the Nubian parts), and the the Arabian plate.
This boundary is also a Rift - where the plates are being pulled apart. (it's a divergent boundary).
