Griswold v. Connecticut is case that concerned a Connecticut law that criminalized the encouragement or use of birth control. The law stated that any person that who used any drug or medical instrument in order to prevent conception should be fined or imprisoned.

Estelle Griswold, the President of Planned Parenthood was found guilty of attempting against conception and was arrested and fined over $100. She appealed to the Supreme Court, who determined that the state law ban on birth control was against marital privacy. This ruling was important because it paved the road for reproductive rights, privacy and freedoms of all citizens.
